I have a neighbor that has been living in my neighborhood for many years who was originally born and raised in France. She married an American and has lived in the USA for many years and is an avid gardener. She plants fantastic vegetables and is always bringing them by the house to share with me. This flower is growing in many places around her home and is an amazing sight to behold. I painted this piece on Arches 140# paper with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint and Winsor & Newton watercolor paint. This combination of paint and paper really lends an amazing textural quality to the background. The original is 10”x13.5” inches in size.
