Library Hydrangea - 7"x5" - DONATED

This quickly painted postcard-sized piece was painted by request as a donation for a Twitter exhibit in Moss, Norway. The public library in the town had its funding cut and was no longer able to purchase badly needed children's books. The exhibited postcard-sized paintings will be sold for $17 each and the money used to purchase books for the local library. The project/exhibit/charity was put together by David Sandum and begins its exhibition on December 1st. I was going to donate one of my older 5"x7" works since I paint much larger pieces now but eventually decided the event was special enough to require it's own unique piece. I had a photograph of a vibrant blue hydrangea and decided I wanted to do a very rose colored version of it instead. The original is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint and Winsor & Newton watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The texture of the paper combined with the heavily granulated paint really creates some unique background textures. This is a very special piece for a very special cause!!
Since this event is for such a great cause, I also opted to send the older piece pictured below. I painted this piece in 2008 and it has been my most viewed painting. I have sold many prints of it and now it is time for the original to find it's way into loving hands.
